Introduction: A Mythical Milestone
The 40th birthday of Castlevania is a rare occasion for fans and nostalgia seekers to revisit one of the most iconic video games on the Nintendo Entertainment System. In a gesture of gratitude toward its community, Konami has decided to offer the original 1986 title free on mobile platforms.
This initiative goes beyond a simple gift; it opens the door to a series of promotions that pay homage to the franchise’s heritage. In this article we detail each offer and explain how you can make the most of this celebration.
The Free Offer on App Store and Google Play
From today until October 24, 2026, Castlevania is available at no cost on both the App Store and Google Play. This mobile version preserves the original mechanics while adapting to touch screens.
The free access allows a new generation of players to discover Simon Belmont, the vampire hunter who has captured imaginations since 1986. All it takes is a simple download to step into gothic horror.
Why This Decision?
Konami wants to celebrate its roots while strengthening Castlevania’s presence on modern platforms. By offering the game for free, they build a bridge between past and present, encouraging players to explore subsequent titles.
The Castlevania Collection Promotions
Alongside the free offer, two major stores are providing massive discounts on their collections. The PlayStation Store offers an 80% discount on the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, while Steam provides the same reduction from September 24 to October 1.
- Anniversary Collection – 80% off
- Dominus Collection – 50% off
- Advance Collection – 70% off
These promotions cover titles from the original game to the latest edition of Requiem: Symphony of the Night, offering a complete experience for collectors.
The Upcoming Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
The next entry, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, will release on October 15 for Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The story follows Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, on a journey through Paris and Dracula’s castle in 1499.
The use of the Vampire Killer whip recalls classic mechanics while introducing new combat and exploration systems. Fans can already prepare for an adventure rich in gothic atmosphere.
What New Features to Expect?
The game offers a smoother progression system, varied enemies, and an immersive soundtrack inspired by medieval times. The narrative focuses on Rose’s personal quest to save her father and confront evil forces.
