Introduction to the God of War Laufey Collector’s Box
The release of God of War Laufey on PlayStation 5 sparked fan excitement, but a surprising detail emerged: the collector’s box does not contain the game. This decision has fueled many discussions across gaming communities.
This article covers everything you need to know about this limited edition – from price and exclusive items to its commercial impact and comparison with other iconic collector’s boxes.
Price and Availability: A €129 Investment
The official price of the collector’s box is set at €129, roughly $149.99 or €149.99. This fee covers only the physical items, not the game itself.
PlayStation’s store states that the box will be available in very limited quantities, exclusively via its official website. Pre‑orders are open now and will remain available “while supplies last.”
Price Comparison with Other Collector Editions
For context, the GTA VI collector’s edition sells for €349 without the game, while some Destiny 2 boxes were offered without an expansion code. Sony’s choice reflects a targeted marketing strategy aimed at collectors.
Exclusive Content: Illuminated Statue and Oracle Deck
A highlight of the box is its 8‑inch illuminated statue featuring Faye, Phranque, and Rue confronting Begtse soldiers. The figurine lights up when plugged into a USB source.
The pack also includes a 51‑card Oracle deck, illustrated by Megan Lara. Each card narrates part of the adventure across Everywhen, providing an immersive experience outside the game.
Technical Details of the Statue and Deck
- Statue: 8 inches, polished finish, integrated LED
- Oracle deck: 51 cards, random draw, original illustrations

Mini Artbook: An Artistic Journey Through Everywhen
The mini artbook contains concept art selected by Santa Monica Studio’s creative team. It showcases characters, creatures, and environments from the game, giving fans a visual dive into the creation process.
This book is a must for any collector, capturing the artistic essence that guided the game’s design without requiring an additional purchase.
Commercial Impact: Why Sony Excludes the Game?
Excluding the game from the collector’s box allows Sony to offer two distinct options: a standard edition with the game and a collector’s pack for enthusiasts. This approach maximizes revenue by targeting different market segments.
Additionally, this strategy avoids logistical constraints tied to including a disc or USB key, simplifying production and distribution of the box.
